Charming & Comfortable

June 13, 2020
The flowers in the quiet courtyard were so charming! Every glance out the window was over the flowers in the window box. Lovely antiques combined with modernized bathroom! Clean throughout and comfy bedding! Would gladly stay again and again! Kind and hardworking staff!

charming European style hotel

June 13, 2020
My partner and I rented the queen room with a kitchen facing the courtyard. The exterior of the motel with the flower boxes, the bougainvillea, and the profuse flowering pots was reminiscent of small inns and hotels that i've stayed at in Europe (Spain, Portugal, Italy, France, etc). We were utterly delighted by the charm of the room itself. It felt more like a one bedroom apartment, with the kitchen fully equipped which was especially useful as we were buying takeout and eating in. The wood trim in the room, the vintage look of the kitchen, even the hardware in the doors were all of the period of late 30's. Everything was spotlessly clean, the bathroom with the mosaic tiled shower stall was updated, and the bedding, mattress, pillows were very comfortable. It was such a lovely experience- I even started imagining myself living there. Among the other plusses were that the location is very convenient on Lombard. Chestnut street is one block parallel with Lombard St with yummy restaurants like A16 and Super Duper burgers and a number of sushi places. Marina supermarket is also close by with a very extensive selection considering its size and the motel is a hop, jump, and skip to the Presidio and Chrissy Fields. Also, the garages are conveniently built beneath the rooms so your car can be parked with a level of security. The motel also provides guests with a lock for the garage door which would be something to consider if your room is facing Lombard street. While the entrance to the garage is narrow, the interior is quite spacious. Overall, the motel is a fantastic value especially if you are looking for charm, character, and a different experience from big chains or even boutique hotels. I was so happy to have stayed there!
