Marina Motel Guest Comments
It's like being in the middle of a Humphrey Bogart movie "The Marina Motel is the only place I stay when visiting San Francisco. It's like being in the middle of a Humphrey Bogart movie. The cobblestone courtyard reminds me of a Spanish church with the old wooden garage doors and when the summer fog rolls in, I am sure I'm on the set of CASABLANCA. The motel was built for the opening of the Golden Gate Bridge and the original owner's granddaughter (Heidi) manages it today. After I return from business in Sonoma and Napa (45 minutes away), I park my car in my own "free" garage and walk around the corner to some of my favorite San Francisco restaurants. If I'm in the mood for Italian, I love the very hip A16 or the more family-style E'Angelo restaurant but my favorite is this little family-owned hole in the wall two blocks from the Marina Motel called the Baker Street Bistro. Crissy Field beach is a few blocks down where I take walks to the Golden Gate Bridge or Fisherman's Wharf and around the corner on Chestnut Street I love to sit in one of the numerous outdoor cafe's sipping a latte' and watching the locals stroll past. Great people watching." - Jack from Cambridge, MA My likes about this place are the people "My likes about this place are the people. I have never met so friendly and helpful people in my entire life. They treated us like we were friends and family. I love the fact that the place itself is so warm, clean and close to a lot of places. I could not find and will not want to find another place to stay when I come back to San Francisco. The streets near to the hotel were filled with places to see and fine restaurants and shopping stores. I stayed at this hotel for three weeks while filming a movie and it was the best choice I have ever made. You will love it once you come here." - Dilip from Jakarta, Indonesia The staff was kind and helpful "The atmosphere was very friendly and though everyone knew each other. The courtyard is lovely and the staff was kind and helpful. We stayed in the family suite and had a great time." - Kelly from Folsom, CA What a great start! "We just returned from a month in California and kicked off with a week at the Marina Motel. What a great start! Pluses: Charming and different. Very clean. Quiet in the courtyard. Very pretty with the flowers. Friendly service. Location is excellent. Chestnut Street around the corner is like a village. Lots of choices for restaurants, plus deli, supermarket, bakery, retro-diner, big classy bookstore, cinema, drugstore with pharmacy, post office, launderette, camera shop, loads of manicurists, GAP (+Baby GAP), even English lingerie (whatever that is). Golden Gate walk-able by kids; my wife jogged across every morning. 24/7 buses to Fisherman's Wharf, downtown and one to Haight/Golden Gate Park. Exploratorium great for kids around the corner." - Timothy from Otley, UK The Motel is quite close to the Golden Gate Bridge and the park "This place was a bargain for what other comparable places were charging. The staff was all very helpful and friendly with local attractions, restaurants and directions. As for the rooms, they seemed to each seemed to have its own unique style, and all very cute. The Motel is quite close to the Golden Gate Bridge and the park. Also the free wireless internet connection was most convenient. We will be back for sure." - Guest from Vancouver, BC Very nice place to stay, quaint and the price is right "We stayed at the Marina Motel twice in the past two years and were very impressed with the staff, cleanliness of the rooms, free parking and the accessibility of the shops in the Marina district and the municipal transportation. You will never have to use your car during your stay. Any place in the city is within 20 minutes via the excellent bus line, which is only a block and a half away. This city is filled with excellent places to dine but the village-like Marina shopping street (Chestnut Street) just a block away from the motel has some of the best restaurants and delis. Very nice place to stay, quaint and the price is right." - Guest from Turlock, CA The best motel we stayed in during our three visits to the USA "The best motel we stayed in during our three visits to the USA. We were made to feel most welcome by Heidi the manager. Very good location, near to the bus stops. Hoping to return again this year." - Guests from England
